This linked article shows how PlayHQ uses tags when syncing contacts to Mailchimp to help organisations use the tool more effectively
Setting up and managing your own Mailchimp Tags
Mailchimp allows for participants to be grouped or added to multiple tags to allow for different mailout segments.
Log in to your Mailchimp account as per screen below
Weblink : https://login.mailchimp.com
Once logged in you can navigate using the left hand column
For this article we are looking at tagging your contacts to allow for segmented mail delivery (covered in article {sending a campaign).
From your login dashboard - choose the audience icon as below
Once you can see your audience there are a few places you can manage their "tags" which helps when sending emails to specific users.
The easiest steps are to follow.
From audience dashboard - select all contacts
You can then add a tag to one contact or multiple contacts by selecting their name email address from the list or using the checkbox next to the profile
Once you have selected the name(s) you want to add tags to - you can choose add/remove tags from the drop down and select an existing tag (synced from PlayHQ or added manually[see adding tags below]), or you can add a new one at that point

You can use tags to help send emails to specific groups.
During creation of your emails (known as campaigns in Mailchimp) - you choose the segment/group or tags that you want to send to and your contact list (audience) is updated for that email (campaign) to only those that match that criteria.
NB: you can use multiple tags when updating user information and multiple tags when selecting groups to send to.
