Configuring E-Scoring For Clubs (Optional)
Logging In and Accessing an E-scoring Session
Overview
PlayHQ's Electronic Scoring (E-scoring) platform is an easy-to-use system which works on a range of devices such as an iPad, tablet or a mobile phone, providing the potential to reduce admin time and effort through the reduction of team sheets and entering post-game scores.
Configuring E-Scoring for Clubs (Optional)
An association can decide whether to allow clubs to enter scores via the E-scoring platform. In order to enable E-scoring for clubs, association administrators will need to turn on the Allow clubs to enter scores via electronic scorings setting. More information on adjusting this electronic scoring setting can be found here.
Tip: Consider setting up a generic email account which can be used by various personnel to access the E-scoring.
Logging In and Accessing an E-scoring Session
Once your PlayHQ admin account is set up or you are provided with Electronic Administrator access, you will be able to access E-scoring portal using your PlayHQ details. Click here to access the E-scoring portal.
Note: In order to access and setup an E-scoring session, you will require internet access.
Once logged in, click the New Scoring Session button to set up a new scoring session.
Once you click this button, you will be prompted to select the venue, date of the match, and create a PIN for the scoring session.
When selecting a date, you will have the ability to choose game-days in advance which can be useful if there is a requirement to set up multiple devices, or if internet or mobile coverage is not available at the venue.
Note: The PIN will be required at a later stage, so it is important to remember this or write it down for easy access.
Once a session starts, venue, date, and court information will appear in the menu on the left-hand side. If multiple days are selected, you can change this using the dropdown arrow.
Internet access is not required from this point; however, 'live scores' will not be uploaded to the public PlayHQ site and Game Day menu without internet access.
When a court is selected, all games scheduled to be played on the chosen court will appear on the right-hand side. If the device will be used for one court, select Lock and enter the pin (created during the access process) to lock the device.
Lineups and Recording Scores
Once an upcoming match is selected, a window will pop up prompting you to confirm the team's lineup. You will also be able to assign positions for players, which can be changed at anytime during the game. You can either confirm the lineups for the match or skip the option.
You can also select the team to start with the Centre pass. Centre passes automatically swap after every goal or at the end of the period. It can also be changed manually at any time.
Starting the Clock
To start the clock for any quarter or half, select Start, located in the top right-hand corner. Once the clock has started, it can be stopped at any time by choosing Pause.
Recording a Goal Against a Team
There are two ways to record a goal. One way is to select the team who has scored the goal, the background will then turn from white to purple. Once the team has been chosen, select the Goal button.
The other way to record a goal is to first select the Goal button and then select the team who scored the goal.
Recording a Goal Against a Player
Similarly, there are two ways to record a goal against a player, either by selecting the player’s name first and then the Goal button or choosing the Goal button first and then the player’s name.
Once recorded, 1 goal and 1 attempt will be added to the player’s name, along with 1 goal added to the team’s total score.
Recording a Miss Against a Player
Similar to recording a goal for a player, there are two ways to record a miss, either by selecting the player’s name first and then choosing the Miss button or selecting the Miss button and then the player’s name. A miss will be recorded in the player’s Attempts column.
Undo an Event
If a goal or a miss has mistakenly been recorded, selecting the Undo button in the bottom left-hand corner will remove that event.
Note: You may need to select this multiple times if the event occurred in prior to the most recent event.
You can also select the Event Log option in the top right-hand corner.
Once Event Log is selected, a pop-up window will appear with each of the game's goals and misses. Choose the trash icon to remove a given event.
Ending the Period/Game
To finalise a quarter, half or the game, select the 3-dot menu in the top left-hand corner. A menu will appear with relevant options, including the option to reset the game.
If the 'End Game' Option is chosen, a pop-up will appear with the game’s scores. Click the Submit Game Result button to confirm and finalise the result.
You will then be required to enter the 4-digit pin (added during the setup stage) to finalise the game.
The game will then appear as Completed.
The live score appears within the Game Day as soon as the match starts and can be viewed by selecting the relevant game.
