Overview
Once a competition and a season has been created, a grade can then be created. A grade contains a number of teams that are fixtured to play each other throughout the course of a season. If a "Team to Season" form is used to register, the team organisers can nominate a grade in which they would like to compete.
Create a Grade
To begin, navigate to Competition Management from the main menu, select the appropriate Competition and Season tile, and then choose the ‘Add a Grade‘ button.
Complete the setup form for the Grade Details. This includes the Day of the week that the Grade will take place, the Age Group for the grade, Gender, Division (optional) eg. A, B, and C or 1, 2, and 3, and choose a Grade name. Once these details are completed, select the Grade visibility.
Once this is complete, select the ‘Next’ button in the top right-hand corner to confirm/update the grade's Game Settings.
Under Game Settings, the first section allows you to configure General Settings. This includes selecting a game sheet template (Basic or Advanced), determining the total duration (in minutes) which should encompass warm-up time, pre-game, and wrap-up time at the game's conclusion. You can also choose between halves or quarters, as well as set the length of each period (in minutes).
You will also be able to set lineup limits for players and coaches (optional), while also setting overtime details.
Overtime can be set for all the games or only for Finals. However, only one period of overtime is only available. If you require 5 two periods of overtime, we recommend selecting 10 minutes and halting the clock halfway to allow for the changeover.
The subsequent section of the Game Settings focuses on Ladder Settings. Here, you can customize outcome points and ranking order, as well as select which ladder columns to display publicly. For further details on Ladder points average and Total points average, click here.
Please note: If you would like to allow for regrading in certain rounds, there is an additional option in the ladder settings (after a grade has been created) that allows the ladder calculation to commence at a particular round.
Finally, select whether you would like to make the grade publicly visible or not. If hidden, the grade and its fixtures and ladders will also not appear publicly.
Once you're satisfied with the settings, click the Next button to proceed.
The third and final section is the Grade Settings. In this section, you can configure Club access and Restriction settings. The Club Access Settings allow association administrators to enable/disable the ability for clubs to enter scores. This allows club admins to enter game and period scores for both teams via Game Day. Subsequently, a time will need to be set to lock access for clubs to enter scores.
Club access type refers to the ability to set line-ups and statistics for their own team or both teams, while you will also need to set when access to opposition line-ups commences (After or before the game starts).
The duration time for each period will also need to be set. Choose to enable/disable best players. If enabled you will need to choose the maximum number of players. These will be displayed on the game centre. Enable/disable player points; this may not be required. However, if applicable you will need to choose whether to enforce a team total player points cap or not. If yes is selected, you will need to set the team player points cap and subsequently choose if player points is visible or hidden.
You can enable Finals Eligibility to set the minimum number of games a player is required to play for a team before they are eligible to represent that team in finals games. Once enabled, you will need to select the minimum number of games that a player must play to be eligible for finals.
It is recommended to review all descriptions under each option to determine if it is suitable for the grade or not.
Finally, under Restriction settings, select any age and/or gender restrictions. Further information about this can be found here.
Once you are satisfied with the settings, select the ‘Add grade’ button to create the grade.
Edit a Grade
To update and edit details of a grade, select the relevant Competition and Season tiles, and then select the grade from the list of grades. Once here, select the Settings tab, and you will then arrive at the General sub-tab. Also next to this, you will find the Fixturing, Game, Ladder and Regrade History. You can find the settings described earlier in this article in these tabs. Most of these can be changed at any time, however some cannot be changed due to implications on system functionality.
Once you are satisfied with the information you have updated, select Update & Save, located at the bottom of the page.
Delete a Grade
If you would like to delete the grade, select the relevant Competition and Season tiles, and then select the grade. Once on the selected grade page, select Settings, and you will then arrive at the General sub-tab. From here, select "Delete grade".
Please note: If the grade contains at least one allocated team or is selected in a Team to Season registration form, then the grade cannot be deleted. If none of the dependencies listed above are valid for the grade, then the Delete grade button will be enabled.
Confirm the deletion by clicking Delete grade or click Cancel to return to the previous page.
