Overview
Interruptions to competitions can occur from time to time, but there are several options available to association administrators to manage these disruptions effectively. Depending on the situation, you can choose from the following options:
- Cancel a round of games
- Insert a mid-season exception date and reduce the number of rounds
- Create post-interruption grades
These strategies can be used individually or in combination, depending on the extent of the interruption.
Cancelling a Round of Games
If your association is using the ladder points average ladder model, cancelling games will not have an adverse impact on your ladders.
However, if you are using the total ladder points model, consider entering game results as draws instead of canceling games. To view the ladder settings, go to Competition Management in the main menu, select the relevant Competition tile, choose the Settings tab, and then the Game Defaults sub-tab. Scroll down to the Ladder Settings section.
To cancel a game, navigate to the Game Day section. For detailed instructions on how to do this, click here. Additionally, you can delete a round of games, which will result in byes for the teams during that round. For more information on deleting games, click here.
Creating Post-Interruption Grades
To manage the season effectively after an interruption, you can create post-interruption grades, effectively splitting the season into two parts: pre-interruption (current) grades and post-interruption (new) grades.
If some games have been missed, you’ll need to create new season exception dates. To add these exception dates, go to Competition Management, select the relevant Competition and Season tile, then click on the View Fixture icon for the affected grade. Next, go to the Settings tab and then the Fixturing sub-tab. Click the Edit Exception Dates button to add new exception dates. Detailed instructions can be found here.
