While interruptions to competitions have become a common occurrence, there are a range of options available to manage these interruptions if they arise. These options are to:
- cancel a round of games
- insert a mid-season exception date and reduce the number of rounds; or
- create post-interruption grades
Depending on the circumstances, these can be used for one or more rounds.
Cancel a round of games
If you are using the ladder points average ladder model, cancelling games will not have an adverse impact on your ladders.
On the other hand, if the total ladder points model is being used, you may wish to consider entering game results as draws rather than cancelling games. To view your ladder settings, navigate to Competition Management in the main menu on the left-hand side and select the relevant Competition tile. Choose the Settings tab and then the Game Defaults sub-tab and scroll down to the Ladder Settings section.
Cancelling a game can be done in the Game Day section, further information on how to do this can be found here.
A round of games can also be deleted, which will leave teams with byes for that round. Additional information on deleting games can be found here.
Create post-interruption grades
Adding post-interruption grades will essentially split the season into two parts; the first in pre-interruption (current) grades and the second in post-interruption (new) grades.
If some unplayed games are now in the past, you will need to create new season exception dates. Further information about this can be found here. Add newly created season exception date(s) to affected grades.
This can be done by navigating to Competition Management and selecting the relevant Competition and Season tile, then the 'View Fixture' button for the relevant grade, and finally the 'Settings' tab and then the 'Fixturing' sub-tab.
Exception dates can be added by selecting the 'Edit Exception Dates' button. Further information about exception dates can be found here.
Create new grades. This will be the 'post-interruption' grades. To do so, Competition Management in the main menu, located on the left-hand side. Then select the appropriate Competition and Season tile, then choose the ‘Add a Grade‘ button. Further information can be found here.
Regrade/unallocate teams out of current pre-interruption grades. The regrade button is found next to the + Add a Grade button in the relevant grade. Further information about regrading teams can be found here.
Allocate teams to new post-interruption grades. This can be done by selecting the + icon on the relevant grade Further information can be found here.
Generate fixtures using the button on the relevant season. Further information can be found here.
Allocate games using Game Slots or Calendar View. This can be done by accessing Competition Management and selecting the relevant Competition and Season tile, then choosing Game Slots. Information about how to do this can be found here.
